Dental Implants

Dental implants are the most effective way of replacing one or more missing teeth in your mouth. Before implant surgery, an X-ray and/or CT scan are used to assess bone quality, and if there is insufficient bone, a bone grafting procedure may be performed. The titanium implant is placed in the jawbone and allowed to integrate for four to six months. During this time, a special healing abutment is attached to the screw and a denture is worn over the area to allow for maximal healing. Once there is successful integration, the permanent crown is placed. The life of a dental implant is indefinite – given that proper care and hygiene is maintained. Implants allow you to have fully restored, natural looking teeth.

Keep in mind that mini implants can be placed in a mouth missing all teeth, then dentures are fitted securely over the implants. This allows no more movement or slipping of dentures while talking or eating! Talk to us to find out what options are best for you.
